Worms & Fleas
![]() |
Worms and fleas can cause problems not only for your pet, but also for people in contact with your pet. Round worms such as Toxocara canis and felis are a particular problem in younger animals and can cause diarrhoea, vomiting and ill thrift. There is also a risk to children who would come into contact with the worms which could result in blindness. |
Tapeworms can be a problem in all ages of animals. We recommend that all pets be wormed every three months with a good quality wormer. Please speak to a member of staff about correct dosage and type of wormer for your pet.
Now that most dogs are kept indoors fleas have become a year round problem. As well as being unpleasant for your pet fleas can also transmit tapeworms and in some cases cause a severe skin reaction in animals which have flea bite allergies. Although fleas from your pet cannot live on you they can occasionally bite humans.
The products available from Parkview not only kill fleas and ticks that may be on your pet, but they also prevent fleas and ticks returning for up to 8 weeks. These products are very safe and are much more effective that flea shampoo’s and flea collars. The products have a very high safety margin and are safe for use in young animals.
